Comprehensive Plan Policies

Given the nature of residential development, land use, and growth in our community, subdivision of land has significant impact upon livability within the community. Oak Harbor’s Comprehensive Plan provides extensive direction with policies relating to subdivisions; these will provide guidance, and analysis criteria for all aspects of this project and relate to topics such as:

  • overall design character and public realm considerations for neighborhoods;

  • view corridors;

  • tree retention and urban forest;

  • providing opportunities for different housing types;

  • quality of life in neighborhoods, and development of complete neighborhoods;

  • parks, recreation opportunities, and trails;

  • landscape design and buffers;

  • environmental protection;

  • bicycle and pedestrian paths; and

  • regulatory flexibility.
